Easter Mission at St Catherine’s with St Mark’s & St Peter’s

Sun 16th – Sun 23rd March 2008

Welcome to the “Life & Soul” newsletter.

St Catherine's along with some other local Churches hosted a week of special activities in the week leading up to Easter.

The week was called “Life & Soul”. People have strange views about God and Church. For example, that God is a killjoy and not all that concerned about us and what we do day by day. The point of this “Life & Soul” week was to show people that God is concerned about their whole life and their soul. God is the maker of all good things and so we held a programme of events that were fun and life affirming, as you can see on the Photo gallery page.

In each event there was an opportunity to think about the things that really matter, things that will still matter after we die. Easter is a time we think about school holidays, bank holidays and chocolate. The events that we recall at Easter are relevant to everyone every day and into eternity. So as well as having fun we thought about issues that are of vital importance!

Ray Porter led a team of 12 students, from Oak Hill theological college many of whom are training for ordination or other Bible teaching ministry in the church. Ray is on the staff at Oak Hill, having served previously with Overseas Missionary Fellowship in China and Indonesia.

The team that came to St Caths were Leigh Meade, who we all know, from her time with us as a trainee, with her fiance Lee Furney, Louis Wilson who, on Easter Sunday, brought a message of triumph telling of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. The fourth member of the team was Alex  Richardson.
