What’s
in a parish weekend away? Atthe beginning of June some members of the Church family were able to enjoy a weekend away in North Wales. One of those who attended writes: Wow
Beechwood Court is a beautiful place to have a weekend away. Hidden away in the
trees on Conwy mountain it is only 10 mins walk from centre of Conwy. Only the
weather could ruin it—but it didn’t!! A
walk up Conwy mountain, visiting local gardens, watching odd Morris Dancers. fun
games of table tennis, getting to know others from St Cath’s better, and away
from the daily emails!! Missed the cats though!! We
had 5 sessions studying Luke – my favourite Biblical author— and there was
lots to take away from the sessions— The
theme—See,
hear, be changed Luke
15-17 · Jesus
takes many risks to find the lost—e.g. Leaves 99
sheep without a shepherd, to find one!! Are we prepared to leave 99
regular church goers to find one lost drug addict, prostitute, paedophile?? ·
God parties when one lost son returns. Are we worried about having a party for
one guy who returns to church having run off with the church funds previously ? · Jesus
goes to ridiculous lengths to forgive—70 x 7—how lucky we are to benefit
from this! But do we forgive so
readily? · Why
might I not be thankful? - perhaps because we don't see ourselves as
sinners—’I’m not to blame for my flaws— it was my upbringing’ etc
etc... · Our
culture needs to know our deepest problems are spiritual
