The prayers on these pages are for inspiration, guidance and reflection. Some of them have been used in our Sunday services
We pray for your church here at St Catherine's. We pray for the many groups that hear your word. We pray for the home groups and SEAN courses. We also pray for your word to be received at the men's and ladies breakfasts. We also pray for the children's groups Investigate, Explore and Cheeky Monkeys as well as the upcoming Holiday Club. We pray that your word will go out into the community via the children.
We pray that your word will go out into Tranmere and be gratefully received. We pray that people who come to Life Explored will grow in faith in Jesus and tell their friends and family the Good News about your death and resurrection and that they will want to come and hear more.
We pray for those who are ill or grieving at this time. May your love surround them and give them peace in their time of grief.
We bring your people around the world before you, especially in the countries where they cannot worship you openly. We particularly pray for the work of Open Doors and Barnabas Fund. We also pray for our mission partners in South Africa and Malawi. We pray that you will give them strength and courage to spread the Good News.
We pray for those in our government. We pray that they would rely upon prayer and the word of God as their source of daily strength, wisdom and courage. Pray that they would bring dignity, honour, trustworthiness and integrity to the office they hold. Amen
We lift up all those who are dealing with illness today. We ask that you would bring healing, comfort and peace to them. Calm their fears and let them experience the healing power of your love, Amen.
Thank you for leading me to our church family. I pray that as we get older and closer that we will never lose sight of what brought us together, you. I pray that you watch over us and keep us safe. May we always be accountable to one another and never demean one another, but always encourage each other in times of blessings and trials. Thank you Lord, Amen.
We pray for those affected by the cyclone in Mozambique and Malawi. We ask you that you give them comfort in this tragedy. Amen.
We live in a world that is full of beauty and reflective of your glory. From towering mountains to deep lying valleys, from the lion’s roar to the peacefulness of birdsong, the blazing sun to the cooling rain. We thank you for the wonder of your creation. O Lord our God how majestic is your name! Yet Lord, with just a cursory look at the news we can see that this earth is marred by the effects of sin. There are wars, famines, diseases. We cry out to you on behalf of those who are suffering. And in particular, we lift up to you the people of California where lives have been lost and livelihoods ruined in the forest fires. May your compassion and comfort touch the bereaved, the dispossessed, and the frightened. Equip emergency services to work efficiently, may neighbours reach out to each other, and may people turn to you in repentance and faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
We bring before you our nation. We pray for the government, for local MPs and councillors and ask that they will rule wisely and in alignment with your will. In particular we bring before you the situation with Brexit. We pray that you will steer those in power to make decisions that are just and equitable. We ask you that members of parliament will put the good of our country above party politics and above personal gain. We pray that you will strengthen Christian MPs to remain truthful and faithful to you, and that their love for those who disagreewith their own views will be a shining light for the gospel. In Jesus' name, Amen.
We ask you to be with the children as they return to school. Allow them to experience the many blessings you put before them. Open their eyes to new challenges and exciting opportunities that the new term brings. Help them to be attentive to their teachers and all that they learn, Amen.
Please be with the people in our congregation and community as they go back to work. Help them to know what to do next with the gift of their work. Teach them to make wise decisions and to keep focused on the path you have set them on, Amen.
Heavenly Father, we lift to you our Christian brothers and sisters around the world who live with the constant threat of violence or injustice simply because of their faith in Jesus. Please be a shield to all who take refuge in You. Help those who have had to leave behind family, friends and all that is familiar, in order to make a fresh start, after violence or injustice; bless them in their new beginnings and keep them safe.
We praise You for those who endure injustice and imprisonment bravely for being a Christian, and still stay strong in their faith. Please continue to strengthen them and their families. We pray in Jesus name, Amen.
We ask you to help those who are in difficult circumstances in our country, and particular those in our community. We bring before you the homeless, the unemployed, the lonely and all those for whom life is really hard. Please help them in their difficulties and help us as a church to support them. Amen
We pray for this Parish, and this Church. For all who come to praise your name, or to just find a way to be closer to you. We pray that you remind us everyday that we are all family in Christ, and to welcome each other as we would our closest friends. Amen
We pray for the Holiday Club and give you thanks, for how well it went. We praise you for the children who came to have fun and learn about you. We pray that those who attended will want to learn more and will pass your word to their families and friends. We pray also for the teachers and helpers too who led so well and kept us safe.
Thank you for our families who keep us safe and loved. We pray for all those people who have no family left, who are miles away from them or have fallen out with them. Give them your love and strength. Help us to remember that you are a part of our family too. Amen
